I Saw a Whale & I Liked It: Northern California Roadtrip.
America, I am in total awe of your beauty. California, you win.
Sorry to only now be posting the results, if you will, of last weekend’s adventure, but it was so stunning that I took 4-days-worth-of sorting-through photos.
Success! I saw a whale!!!
Hailing from an island that literally takes 1 hour to drive across (people are often confused about my origin being Trinidad & Tobago, but we’ll get those particular specifics another time…) I just can’t get over the vastness and the sheer amount - both geographically and of course, gastronomically - that this country has to offer.
Anyway, last weekend’s road trip revolved around sea. Here’s what there was…

There was eating and people watching in the gorgeous Monterey.
And there was walking in Pebble Beach. Note: those were definitely the largest pebbles I’ve ever seen. I’ve logically concluded that the wealthier people become, the larger sized pebbles they must be able to acquire for their beaches and whatnot.

We drove down to Big Sur along this road.

Oh! But before that, there was stretching done by this person.

But best of all, there was blowhole action by this whale (!!!) - see upper right of the photo. I was too busy watching in real life to get a proper picture. But in the world of mindfulness, that’s a good thing, no?

Not to be outdone - there were dolphins. Hundreds, in fact! I have a tendency to get a little bit overexcited with numbers, but the captain announced that there were close to a thousand so I think I’m allowed to squeal a little every time I think about it. Unfortunately, I’ve sort of muddled these pictures too.

A little one stuck around for a while. Being the sentimental goon that I am, it meant something. Who knows what, but there were tears involved. Always.

And very reluctantly, we went home.
Cross it off the bucket list. Until next time… x
